Teachers to manage classroom cheaters

Since it is technology that has taught us how to cheat from the internet and plagiarise essays by its use, we must fight back. Now it is our turn! We in turn will use technology as a means to prevent cheating in school and college assignments. We at www.theplagiarism.com have devised ways to prevent students from getting into plagiarism problems.

Give the exact definition of cheating

You must define it to your students that copying work from others is cheating and that includes work from the internet and even from their class mates and friends. Let them be clear that there is no such thing as an open book test and cheating should be avoided. Keep a clear work as well as study environment.

Make charts that discourage plagiarism and display them on the notice board. This would raise the conscience of the students and they would not dare to cheat or plagiarize their assignments. If students are encouraged to follow the ‘out of your sight out of your mind’ policy then they will put their originality into everything they do.

Make cheating a very daunting task

During a test or any other academic evaluation you must make a very strict environment in the classroom and keep an eye on every student so that no one tries to cheat. Preferably have two teachers and faculty allotted in every classroom and such that they are always facing in the opposite directions so that all the cases of cheating are caught and none of them is allowed to pass off with ease. Catch any suspicious movement and issue frequent warnings to the whole class. Make the students sit away from each other, try to spread them out, make them sit in serial order. Do anything but do not make it easy for them to cheat or copy work from others. You can also change the question papers so as to avoid any repetitions from papers in other sections. The more stringent you are, the more successful you will be

Increase your own knowledge

You will be able to prevent the students from cheating only if you yourself are aware of the innovative ways and means that students have developed to cheat. Try to find them out and then find measures to nullify them. Use plagiarism detection software and internet portals such as Theplagiarism.com to catch hold of any plagiarised essays.

Punish the ones who are caught

If any of your students presents you an assignment that matches with any source on the internet then make sure that you shout it out loud in front of the whole class and punish him by scoring a zero for him in that assignment. Do this so that it is not repeated by any other student in your class.

Make specifications in your assignments beforehand

Authoritative figures like teachers and professors must take care that each of his students list their sources of reference and you can compare the sources of various students so that there is no chance for the emergence of plagiarism. And by this they also will be able to compare their work with the original sources. Thus students should be diverted away from plagiarism since childhood itself as this would shape up their character and make them honest and hard working citizens.

You ought to be a mentor who shows his/ her students the right path of life so that they help in the development of the society as well as scale great heights in their personal fields. Keep the youth away from the habit of cheating themselves and not anyone else.
